January Favorites

Following in Ashia’s and Julianna’s footsteps.. I’ll post my January favorites.

Ya’ll I have no idea why, but I LOVE this show! I just love watching. Seriously, I sat in my dorm for a good 3 hours watching episode after episode. Most of them were ones I had already seen!

Julianna told me about this stuff. It makes my hair feel so so good. My hair was just getting this dry look, but this is really helping a lot!

Every song on this album is seriously so good. I can put it on repeat and listen for hours. I NEVER get sick of it!

I mentioned in a previous post that I made this salsa. Well, it’s become a habit of mine to make it every time we run out!

I got these black toms for Christmas. I wear them every day. Literally, t-shirt and sweats, or a sweater and jeans, I will have them on. They are so comfortable. This was my first pair, but I am already looking for my second.

This is always a favorite, but just recently I have started shopping online. Yes, thank you Julianna! Most everything that I wear is Old Navy. For some reason, I just love their clothes! I mean even their pajamas are so comfortable!I especially love their clearance because it's always a clearance price plus an extra 40% to 50% off of that. You really can't beat that!
**These are just some of my random favorite things for this month! Go over to Julianna’s blog and comment so she can see YOUR favorites!**

Procrastination....

Yes, that’s what I do best.  I am taking an online Biology class this semester.
This is bad because
1.       I procrastinate.
2.       I am terrible at science. Any science.
3.       I procrastinate.
I have a test due by Friday, and guess who hasn’t studied for it, or even taken it?? If you guessed me, give yourself a huge hug from me!! HA! While I haven’t been studying for this Biology test, I have been cooking/making/baking, watching the Bachelor, and reading. What a nerd I really am.
I baked cookies for my former high schools basketball tournament. I made my easy easy 4 ingredient chocolate chip cookie recipe. Ya’ll they are delicious if I do say so myself! The recipe makes a bunch!! I also made Pioneer Woman’s salsa. She posted this recipe on her blog a while ago, and Julianna was like we need to make that. We have a love /love relationship with salsa. It’s the ONLY reason why I like to go eat Mexican. Any way, if ya’ll haven’t tried I highly recommend going here and getting the recipe. Yes, I have been Suzy Homemaker the past few days!
On to the Bachelor, I love Emily. She is just absolutely precious. She has that sweet southern voice, and OMG ya’ll, she is just so innocent. Brad doesn’t even need to date any of those other girls. (Those of you who don’t watch, I think you should. Yes, I love reality TV) Who do you like?
Reading, well the only thing I can say is that I’m addicted to romance novels. There I said it. The first step is always to admit, right?? HA!  They are just much more interesting than anything about bacteria, and the domains of life, and so on..
My weekend was a much needed weekend of doing nothing. I love just sitting at home and being SO lazy, so I won’t bore you with that!
This was just a blah post, but I wanted to update. I’m going to start the 30 day blog challenge on the first.  Hope ya’ll are having great week!! Now off to study/procrastinate for a music appreciation test, and well, yeah there’s that biology test that I need to work on too!

Let's Don't Say Goobye. I Hate the Way it Sounds...

You’re leaving tomorrow, and to say that I’m upset about it would be an understatement. I am upset about it. I’m happy that you are having the opportunity to go, and that you are very happy about going, but at the same time I am very sad about it. I know you are happy, so that is all that matters though. Some may call me crazy for writing all of this, but it’s the only way that I feel I can really express the way I feel about all of this.

You became a part of my life during the fall, but in the time that we have had, you have managed to become one of my best friends. You listened when I needed to talk, and you cared. You helped me move from a previous relationship and to know that there are way better things out there for me. That was one of the biggest things that I could never really bring myself to believing and letting go of the past. Well, I’ve done it, and I have NO intention of going back.
I didn’t really get to tell you good bye, but I really do HATE the way it sounds.
I hope you are extremely happy.
I hope that our paths cross soon.
I’ll miss you a bunch.
Thank you for showing me that there are better things, and that I do deserve better.
“Let's don't say goodbye
I hate the way it sounds
So if you don't mind
Let's just say for now
See you when I see you
Another place some other time
If I ever get down your way
Or you're ever up around mine
We'll laugh about the old days
And catch up on the new
yeah I'll see you when I see you
And I hope it's someday soon.”

**Thank you all for the comments. I was very skeptical about even starting to blog because I was scared no one would read it well, I was wrong!! Ya'll make me feel so much better!!

Weekend Recap

Ok, no I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth. I have been semi-kind of busy, but that’s just an excuse. I AM L.A.Z.Y.  Really I am. Anyway, this is what I’ve been up to. It was a LONG weekend too! I loved it. I can most definitely get used to only going to school three days a week.
Thursday:
I had to stay at school late on Thursday night because the Refection singers, which are the selected choir that I am in, had to sing the National Anthem at the basketball game. I finished class at 2:15, so I had to waste lots of time. It’s such a great thing that my mom works only a few miles from my school! She always has things for me to do to help her at work.  Thursday is somewhat of a TV night. Grey’s comes on. HA!
Friday:
I recruited for choir at my former high school and then did my usual Friday routine of running errands. YAY! Ha. NOT! I love love love the fact that I do not have any classes on Friday. It makes my week so much shorter and my weekend so much longer. Central had a basketball game. I attended. It’s fun to go back and see the teachers and friends from high school.
Saturday:
I actually set my alarm to make sure I got to the post office on time. HA. I was supposed to be getting a package! YAY! Well, guess what?? It was there. Old Navy is my absolute FAVORITE place to shop. I LOVE  IT!  Julianna has gotten me addicted to online shopping.  This may be a problem in the future! One weekend night out of each week is set aside for me and the siblings to go on a “dinner date” with my dad! We each have a weekend to pick a restaurant to eat at. It’s always nice to go out with him and my siblings and me not to argue and fight. We never do around him because he will not hear of it. We chose Rubens Seafood House, and they did not disappoint. It was delicious. I had fried oysters, and everyone else had shrimp and steak.
Sunday:
I started my day with church. It’s what I always do. This Sunday I was asked to sing. Well, it was very last minute when I was asked, so I just went with a traditional hymn, Jesus Paid It All. I know I have mentioned it before, but I LOVE traditional hymns. They just remind me of my child hood. I just love them so much! After church, we left for Jackson to see my mom’s side of the family. Steven also had a knee doctor’s appointment. (Side note: He had a complete ACL reconstruction on December 17 because of a football injury. He’s in therapy now. He also got the go ahead from the doctor that he can wean himself off of crutches. This is music to everyone’s ears. We don’t have to wait on him hand and foot now!!) I love going to Jackson. It’s my home away from home. It is also where I plan on attending after I finish with junior college.  Anywho, I love visiting with my family. Every time we stay at my aunt’s house, we stay up entirely too late catching up on all of the family drama. HA! I know every family has some!
Monday:
Yay for a vacation from school!! I was lazy for the most part. I slept way too late. We had lunch at a GREAT burger place called Burger’s and Blues. It was delicious. Then it was more visiting before we hit the road to come home! I always hate having to leave, but every time I do I tell myself that it’s only a matter of time before I will move there permanently!
I hope each one of you has had a great long weekend! Hope you have a good short week too!

Just a Little Bit More

Before you begin reading this I'll warn you that it is probably going to bore most of you! Just consider yourself warned!

Random things to humor yourself about me:
-I love children. Babysitting is my “college job”.
-I love music. I was in choir in high school, and I now sing for my college choir.
-I LOVE the beach. I could lie on the beach for hours with a good book, a comfortable chair, and an umbrella.
-My favorite color is pink. What girl’s isn’t?
-I procrastinate ALL the time. It’s truly a miracle that I finish anything on time.
-Speaking of on time, I am NEVER on time for anything. You see I used to be before I drove, but now that I can get myself everywhere I need to be, it’s like I cannot for the life of me be there on time. My mom is a very punctual person. Like Sunday School starts at 9:30, she is ALWAYS there between 9:10 and 9:15. It drives me crazy.
-Old hymns speak volumes to me. I wish we could go to church and sing The Old Rugged Cross and Jesus Paid It All every Sunday. I would be a happy girl. I love new “church” songs but love the traditional ones too.
-I love watching any romance, western movie.
-My TV watching currently consists of The Bachelor, Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds, The Young and the Restless, Undercover Boss, and Friday Night Lights. There are a couple that aren’t on TV right now like Secret Life of the American Teenager and Army Wives. I love TV.

-I was a cheerleader in high school. I miss cheering, but I do NOT miss all the drama that it entails.

-Speaking of high school, I don't miss that either. When I was in high school, i would always think what am I going to do when I get to college? I won't be with the same people that I have grown up with my entire life. Well, boy was I ever crazy to think that. I LOVE my classmates, and I miss most of them, but there are those certain few that I will never miss.

-I love football. It's my favorite sport. Cheering has a lot to do with this passion I have for football. I'm one of those obnoxious fans. like the ones that yell really loud at the referees and act all obnoxious when my team scores. Yes, that's me. The one that most people try to sit far far away from.

These are just a few random things that may humor you! HA! Hope you are having a great Thursday!! The weekend is SO close.

Meet My Family

Graduation 2010

I had this whole post written out that included more random facts about me, but I decided that those could wait. My family is what comes next.  So, let me introduce them to you.
Prom 2010

My Mom. She is one of my best friends. I love spending time with her. She is the rock that holds our family together. I would never be here if it wasn’t for her (literally), but really. She is one of the most important ladies in my life!
Prom 2010

My Deddy. We are so much alike that it is NOT even funny. We disagree a lot because we are so much alike, and we are both VERY hard-headed . I learn from the best. (just kidding, Dad!) we spend time piddling around his shop. He loves showing me things that he thinks I must know. Like how to change a tire for instance. That’s what he’s for! :)
**Christmas 2010

My sister. Anna and I haven’t always been that close. We are more known for our fighting than actually getting along. She is my sister though, and at the end of the day, I still love her. Now that I live at school, our relationship has gotten so much better. We don’t fight as much. She is becoming my best friend. She loves children as much as I do.  She isn’t into the sports scene. She’s more for staying home and watching movies or reading.
February 2010

My brother. Steven and I have always been the closest. The days of me beating him up are LONG gone. He is WAY taller than me and can beat me up in a second. He’d never do it though! :) he loves football and baseball. He’s just a typical all around boy!
**Christmas 2010

Well, that sums up my family! I would never ever be who I am today without these people. They have supported me in every decision I have ever made and not once doubted me.. I love each of them so very much.
**The Christmas 2010 pictures were taken by one of my amazingly talented best friends Julianna!

Start of Something NEW

SOOOO, I am new at blogging. I guest blogged for Julianna while she was in Montana, and that was the beginning of the want for a blog. I have been reading blogs for about 2 years but never for a second thought I would ever want one. Well, I do! HA!
I’m starting this blog, so I can document every part of college, life, and random happenings.  Take for example, the snow, or blizzard as some would call it, we got last night, and how fun it was to be a child again. I mean SNOW in Mississippi?!?  Any way back to the subject at hand, Julianna has been trying for such a LONG time to get me to start blogging, and I would always say no one will read it, I don’t know what to write, and so on. Well, I may only have 3 readers, but who cares. It’s for my mental sake that I write all of these lovely events of a college student.
I’ll start by introducing myself.  I’m Hollie. I’m 18. I am a freshman in college. My dream is to become a dental hygienist. It’s something that I am passionate about.  My siblings are twins. They’re miracle children even though they don’t look/act like it, but that’s all a story in itself. I have the best friends that anyone could ask for. I’m from a small town in Mississippi, and to be very honest, I love small town living, but I am ready for something new. I love spending time with my family, friends, and I can’t forget my babysitting family either!!  I think that’s enough about me for now. I plan on doing a few posts with my favorite things, but remember. I am SOOOO new at this.
